Week 11 - Not pretty, but a win

There were plenty of ugly wins this week:

Cleveland 13, Detroit 10
Baltimore 16, Chicago 13
Philadelphia 40, New Orleans 29 (Ok, there is nothing ugly about this.  I just wanted to type that the Eagles won).

What does this have to do with the pool?  This week was another low scoring week.  Average score was 21.93 (2nd lowest this season).  So you have to take points where you get them.  Whether from behind the 3 point line or from the free throw stripe (When did this become a basketball email?).  I bring this up as our winner this week is the 3rd highest free throw leader in a game for the University of Denver Pioneers:

FIELD-GOAL PERCENTAGE (minimum 10 attempts)
1. Kelly Lively .923 (12-13) at Colorado Christian, 1/11/92
2. Yemi Nicholson .909 (10-11) vs. Northern Colorado, 2/15/06*

Rob Lewis .909 (10-11) vs. Arkansas-Little Rock, 3/8/09
4. Erik Hartwell .900 (9-10) vs. Arizona Coll. of Bible, 12/1/95

Mark Langkamp .900 (9-10) vs. Coll. of Santa Fe, 3/8/83

Bob Oliver .900 (9-10) vs. Western State, 1/11/72

Congrats Erik.  I will shed a little more on your athletic prowess. I mean it was against Arizona College of Bible, but the rim doesn't know that.  In fairness, Hartwell couldn't hit a basket so why the hell were they fouling him.  Also, be careful when you Google Erik.  You may get this (Eric versus Erik, so not the guy in the pool):

NORFOLK, Va. –Wanted sex offender Eric Hartwell, who escaped earlier in February, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service in Norfolk, Va. Friday, a source told FOX31 Denver’s Julie Hayden.

Sorry, Erik.  Sometimes a win feels like a loss doesn't it?  Erik rode Minnesota (34), Pittsburgh (37), and New Orleans (29) to 100 points in the weekly win.  Mike Rodden finished a distant second this week with 89.  Kevin Matthews and Brian Costello (see the rare Friday post) head south with a 31 for the week.

Overall leaders:

1) Drew Costello - 876
2) Brian Costello - 840
3) Bowen Knarr - 838

Harry Mumma Memorial Last Place Award
Lee Paciello - 636

Have a great Thanksgiving.
