First of all, I hope everyone had a nice holiday - Christmas, Festivus, Kwanzaa or whatever you celebrate.
This
is my last email of the year (not season). Let's face it, 2021 was a
weird year. It was supposed to be better than 2020, but let's face it
that's a pretty low bar. That's like saying my football team was 0-16
last year and they will be better this year. If the team is 2-14 the
next year, it's better...but not good. But let's discuss football and
the pool. Why is the title Year of "2"? Seems like a bunch of
duplication going on. I won the first two weeks (much to the chagrin of
the tin hats) and Brain Costello won 2 weeks. We had a week of 2
winners (see last week's writing of a lunatic). At the top, we have two
brothers (more on that later). So it just seems like 2 is a magic
number (Tejas Desai likes it 3 times as much!). So why do I point this
out (and does anyone read this far or is it TLDR?)? We have another
repeating winner this week. Yes, someone else got win #2 this week. So
congrats Oscar Velazquez! You got your second win this week. Oscar
rode Philadelphia (34), LA Rams (30), and Texans (41) to 105 points.
The Texans going into this week were the 31st scoring team in the
league. Also, Dallas put up 56 points...how did it not lead to a
winner? Well, two people had the Cowboys Paul Porter (100) and Shaun
Day (89) so it helped, but not enough. So congrats Oscar.
Overall standings:
1. Drew Costello - 1192
2. Brian Costello - 1157 (order restored with the Costellos at the top)
3. Erik Hartwell - 1156
Harry Mumma Memorial Last Place award:
Jim "Acme Rules" Slobodjian - 947

Have a happy new year and here's hoping that 2022 is the year we hoped 2021 would be.
Harry
