Week 2 -Are you not entertained?
As Maximus Decimus Meridius says in Gladiator, "Are you not enterained?" as he displays his disgust at the fans bloodthirst. Well, this week's football games kept me entertained. What a week of football!! If you are a Jets fan and quit on the game at the 2 minute warning or a Dolphin fan who gave up at halftime, you missed amazing finishes. On the other end of the spectrum, poor Trey Lance of SF and the Colts had awful weeks. In the pool, if you were Brian Costello and thought you had the weekly win with 98 points going into Monday night, well the PFE had a last minute win as well.
Melissa O'Meara might have realized she had the Bills, but could one honestly hope the Bills would open a can of Whoop Ass (second use in 2 weeks) on the Titans (and WTH happened to the Titans?)? Well, Melissa rode Buffalo (41), Detroit (36) and the Jaguars (24) to over take Brian's 98 and put up 101 points. Eric Hartwell finished 3rd with 96. Congratulations on the win Melissa
Tejas Desai has taken the pool to new highs (or should I say lows?). Tejas had a tough week last week when the Jets put up 9 points for a score of 27. I thought this would be the lowest score of the season. So in week 2, Tejas says "hold my beer" as Seattle put up a very lucky 7 points (a blocked FG return for a TD). This was all the fighting Pete Carrols put up earning Tejas a new low of 21. Tejas becomes the first 2-time winner of the lowest week award (and the only winner). Do I dare name it the Tejas Desai Lowest Week award? Not, yet...not, yet (see what I did there - another Gladiator reference).
Overall Leaders:
1) Rob "Yorktown" Watts - still angling for his "King's share" of the prize pool with 178
2) Melissa O'Meara - 172
3) Erik Hartwell - 169
Just outside the top 3 is Rob Dolnick, which satisfies my need for Rob to not win.
Leader for the Harry Mumma Memorial Last Place Award (Editor note: You are still not dead so it can't be "Memorial")
Tejas Desai - 48 (Have to love the consistency of Tejas)
On a final note, like anyone is still reading at this point. Next week's email will be delayed. I am having a small procedure done Monday which might keep me in the hospital a couple of days. I will have a computer with me (need to keep working), but the PFE email may be delayed. STOP CHEERING you know you love these emails. The procedure is nothing, the doctor is opening a new game of Kerplunk and replacing some of my lost marbles.
