Week 13 - Oops we did it again...

Britney Spears in the title?  This ought to be good (don't get your hopes up).  Last week I went on a dissertation on the origin of a tie.  We then discussed the Roakes rule.  So what happens, another (bleep)ing tie this week.  I used all my creativity last week because how often do we have a tie.  NEVER!!!   But no, you people decide to group your teams together so that we have a tie.  What is going on???  There have been two ties in the NFL and now we have two ties in the PFE?  Coincidence?  Gibbs' Rule #39: There is no such thing as a coincidence. (Gibbs is Mark Harmon from NCIS.  If you haven't watched it, do it!).

Now, I may sound angry.  I'm not, really.  I mean this is the time of the year when Hallmark Christmas movies are in full swing.  I have to admit, I enjoy watching them.  I tell Mirna I don't (and she never reads these rantings so I'm good), but they are good.  Have you ever seen the one where the couple bumps into each other at the beginning, don't like each other because of a misunderstanding and then fall in love.  I love that one!!!  Also, I always wondered why Bowen Knarr picked up and left Philadelphia for Colorado in the pandemic.  I mean why leave a city like Philly for the beautiful mountains and clean air of Colorado.  I mean sure it's picturesque and the people are nicer, but I have the real reason.  Most Hallmark Christmas shows are based in Colorado.  I think Bowen is chasing the girl from Party of Five who just does Hallmark movies and Candace Cameron (from Full House) to get the Christmas spirit.  I just don't have the heart to tell Bowen they aren't really filmed there.

But I digress.  This week's co-winners are Brian Costello and Jane McGrory.  Now for those of you who are new, the tin hat brigade used to think the pool was rigged as my family members were deemed "overly lucky".  Well, now I think the pool is rigged.  Brian Costello is winning too often!!!  Brian splits the week to go along with his week 10 win and Week 3 lowest score.  Could Brian have rigged the pool?  Is he a Russian or Chinese hacker who decided Bitcoin wasn't enough of a challenge so he hacked my spreadsheet?  Hmm.  Jane McGrory I do not know.  I googled "Jane McGrory" and Jane is either Municipal Bond Salesperson or sells Waterstones (or is a pseudonym for a major life of crime).  Either way, not much to pick on there.  Brian rode Lions (40 *2) and the Vikings (27) to a 107.  Jane (and I am going with the pseudonym for a life of crime) rode the 49ers (33), Dallas (54) and Chargers (20) to a 107.  So congrats.

The last place score for the week went to Brad Watts.  Don't feel bad for Brad.  He wins $25 for his last place score and is an England fan (and citizen?) so he still has England in the World Cup (with his dad Yorktown).  Brad used BYE (22) and the Patriots (10 *2) to get a 42.  Late last night, Tampa Bay had 3 points.  With 5 minutes left in the game.  I had the last place score win (I had TB twice!).  Then Tom Brady leads 2 TD drives to win the game and relegate me to an almost ran.  I can't even lose right.  I give up....(HOLY CRAP, am I French?  I just surrendered).  I would be mad at Brady, but he has had such a tough life (no money, no success) I am glad he had a little happiness.

Overall standings (please let there be no Dolnick, please, please):
1) Rob Dolnick - 976. UGH!  There is no justice!  Now Dolnick will text me all week taunting me.
2) Melissa O'Meara - 955  I googled Melissa and there is a doctor in Colorado with that name.  I cannot believe Hartwell knows a doctor so I am going to believe Melissa has joined Jane in a life of crime.
3) Patrick Diello - 937.  Patrick is still in first place for jokes for the "That'll buff right out," reply to Rachel's burning car.

Outside looking in Rob "Yorktown" Watts is at 936,  Rob will have quite the December with a top 3 finish and England winning the world cup.

Last place:
John Idzik - 743.  John has had a couple of good weeks which will lose that last place award.

Next in line - Harry Mumma - 756.  Could I win my own Memorial Award?  Could this be a Christmas miracle?  Could I have the Hallmark happy ending?  Nah....

There are a (Bleep)load of BYEs this week.

Have a nice week.

Harry
