Week 14 - The Soap Opera Continues

Well...what a week.  It has had high drama (World Cup upsets, key injuries in NFL), grief (RIP Grant Wahl and Mike Leach) and other stuff (the flu is ravaging people).  This will be a short email as I am tired and not feeling 100%.  At least we did not have a tie this week.  The whole "kissing your sister" storyline was getting creepy.  I mean "Yuck" creepy not "Stranger in the house" creepy.

Quick overview of the week:
  • The bathrooms took a bad beating against Russell Wilson TD's,  Russ threw for 2 TD and has 11 for the season (pretty sure bathrooms remain at 12).  Now Russell had an injury that made him come out of the game, but I think this one is over.  Our news desk is calling this for Russell.  With 76% of the games played, we are projecting Russell Wilson will beat the number of bathrooms.  (Note: Denver is eliminated from playoff contention.  Could they bench Russell to save him for 2023?  Could bathrooms make a dramatic comeback?  Nah).
  • The NY Giants (and also the Eagles) screwed me again.  At one point, late in the game the NY Giants (who play in NJ) had only 14 points.  I had the NJ Giants twice.  I was sitting on 14 points (doubled = 28) and the Oakland/Los Angeles/Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders who had 16.  I was at 44.  The Eagles had more points at that point than I did.  I was destined for the lowest score.  Then both teams pulled their starters.  The NJ Giants then scored an "Oh by the way" TD and went for 2!!!  Great 16 more points.....now I am relegated to mediocrity...again.
  • The Eagles put up 48 on the aforementioned NJ Giants.  Interesting.  4 of the top 5 scores had the Eagles.  Coincidence?  See Gibbs Rule #39 from last week.
  • People say if you don't have a QB, you won't have a season in the NFL.  So Kyler Murray wrecking his ACL put an exclamation point on Arizona's no good, awful season.  However, how does this idiom explain the Tampa Bay / SF game?  Tom Brady (who plays for TB and I have heard is a fairly good QB) played against Brock Purdy??  Now Brock Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant in this year's draft (Mr. Irrelevant is what they call the very last pick of the draft and also how my family refers to me).  Well he was relevant as he outbattled Brady to a 35-7 butt kicking (OK Purdy did not actually play at the same time as Brady, but you get the gist).   So is the idiom correct?  You decide.
  • Finally, in a follow-up to my Schadenfreude email.  It has been 4 weeks since Andrew Pisani's quote of "I am just happy the powerhouse and future Super Bowl champion Minnesota Vikings are finally getting credit for their great start. Thank you again to Howie and the Eagles for passing on Jefferson for *checks notes* the Vikings current 5th wide receiver (Reagor)."   Well since then, the "Powerhouse" Vikings have gone *checks notes* 2-2.  Well the Colts come to town so maybe they can get right again
Now for the results.  I have deliberately not mentioned the World Cup scores from this week because it will definitely cause pain for at least one (maybe 2) of our PFE members.  England lost to France and to add injury to insult (I know I said it backwards) Harry Kane blew a penalty kick (never trust a guy named Harry, right Prince William?).  Now Rob (and probably Brad) Watts are probably still mourning this loss (and after the Queen not a banner year for England).  Well, feel better Rob.  You scored 117 this week.  Riding Eagles (48), KC (34) and SF (35) to a 117 (the highest score of the season).  Rob beats out Joe Brooks (Eagles - 48, Detroit - 34, and Denver - 28) who had 110.  He can use the money to buy gin or Boddington's to forget the World Cup while having a Yorkshire Pudding or some Bangers and Mash.

Last Place - Eddie Rodriguez had the Bills - 20, TB - 7, and the LA Rams - 17 for a 44 (I would have had a tie!!!).  Eddie beat (?) Mark Warner and Mary Rudolph.  Now Mary has won before and Mark Warner is a Senator???  Is this true (https://www.warner.senate.gov/public/)?  Holy cow, do we have royalty in the pool?  If so, I have to clean up these emails.

Anyway, here are the overall results (please no Dolnick)
1. Rob Watts - 1053.  The rich get richer
2. Rob Dolnick - 1041.  Why is this happening?  Where is Karma when I need it?  At least this week's texts from Dolnick will not say he is winning.
3. Melissa O'Meara - 1031.  I think we are all rooting for Melissa at this point.  I know I am.

On the outside looking in....#4 - Brian Costello - 1022.

The Harry Mumma Memorial Last Place Award.
John Idzik - 808.  Oh, John is feeling the pressure.  As John looks behind, there's my ugly mug gaining quickly.  Next up, is Harry "Mr. Irrelevant" Mumma at 816 (damn you NJ Giants!!!)

THERE ARE NO MORE BYE WEEKS!!!
