Week 16 - No more humour
After his classic email last week, I had Rob Watts put together his recap of the week. The result was.....well disastrous. There were stray u's all over the place. Colour? Humour? Favourite? And I'm not sure what "wanker", "wazzock", or "prannet" are but they did not seem to be good. So I had to rewrite the email. Maybe next season Rob.
Christmas Day was, of course, family day. We played a game for hours and never turned on the TV until very late when we watched Knives Out: Glass Onion - it was very good and Daniel Craig did a Southern accent?
Why am I giving you my rundown? Well I don't have much info from the games. I can't make jokes about the Vikings (who seem to have found a kicker and are on pace now to seize the #1 seed from the Eagles) and mock Andrew Pisani.
I do know that Nick Foles was back. Maybe he did not have the best game last night (3 INT) but look at his career:
- 7 TD's in a game (against the Raiders in Nov 2013)
- Win SB MVP (On Feb 4, 2018)
- Statue in a City (
)- Cut on national TV ....https://www.reddit. com/r/eagles/comments/7vnqmk/ jeff_fisher_cutting_nick_ foles_on_hard_knock/
- $86,045,346 in career earnings (Yep, not a misprint....I copied and pasted it from here: https://www.spotrac.com/ nfl/indianapolis-colts/nick- foles-9898/cash-earnings/)
Not too shabby. Russell Wilson may have made more money (about $238 million), but has zero of the above achievements. Although he did get another TD so he is officially tied with bathrooms at 12.
Now for the pool:
Well, well, well....the chickens have come home to roost. The Kastin Rule is to lower weekly win dollar amounts and put more money on the season totals. Adam takes this SO seriously he actually came up with the payout amounts this season. Well Adam, enjoy your $150 winnings as you crushed it this week. Adam rode Rams (51), KC (24) and the Panthers (37) to a 112. Adam beat Tejas Desai who is crying in his eggnog again. Tejas had the Cowboys last week and just missed winning. Well this week the Eagles played the Cowboys and Tejas had the Eagles * 3 for 102. Mike McGrory was also in the running with a 107 (Panthers, Rams, and Bucs). Three people over 100 you would think it was a high scoring week, but the average score was the third lowest.
Speaking of low scores. It was a race to the lowest score of the week. Patrick Diello "wins" the race with 33 points (Bears - 13, Browns - 10, Raiders - 10). Patrick beat out Colleen Costello - 36 and Lucas "Thomas" Paine - 39.
The overall totals (Please no Dolnick, please!):
1 - Rob Watts - 1210. Well no email recap this week, but Rob maintains his lead.
2 - Rob Dolnick - 1191. No Festivus miracle this week.
3 - Mike McGrory - 1182. Welcome to the top 3 Mike. Your 107 catapults you into Top 3 Wait, where is Melissa?
Next in line, Melissa O'Meara - 1175. Come on Melissa, we need you to knock out Dolnick.
Harry Mumma Memorial Last Place Award
51 - John Idzik - 931
Next in line, #50 - Kathy Garstka - 932. A one point difference for last place.
This is the last email of 2022 and I have to tell you 2022 can't leave fast enough. I won't go into all the ways this year stunk, but it challenged 2020 when we were all prisoners in our homes. Have a happy new year.
There are only 2 precious weeks of football left. Hold them and cherish them.
